Connecting a Domain
You can connect a custom domain to any Landingsite website on a paid plan (Basic or Pro). Only one domain can be connected to each website.
Option 1: Buy a Domain Through Landingsite
Section titled “Option 1: Buy a Domain Through Landingsite”You can purchase a domain directly through Landingsite. When you do, DNS is configured automatically — no additional setup needed. Just purchase, connect, and publish.
Domains purchased through Landingsite auto-renew automatically and are managed separately from your website subscription.
First-Year $1 Domain Offer
Section titled “First-Year $1 Domain Offer”Some paid websites are eligible for a $1 first-year domain when you buy a qualifying domain through Landingsite.
Important details:
- this applies to domains purchased through Landingsite, not domains you already own elsewhere
- the discounted first-year price only applies to qualifying domains priced at $15 or under
- renewals after the first year are billed at the normal domain rate
- the offer is tied to the website you are purchasing for, so it will not appear as an unlimited discount for extra domains on the same site
If you expected the $1 offer but do not see it:
- Make sure you are buying the domain for a paid website.
- If that website already has another domain connected, disconnect the current domain first.
- Start the domain purchase again from that website’s Settings → Domain flow.
If the price still does not look right after that, contact support before completing checkout.
Option 2: Connect a Domain You Already Own
Section titled “Option 2: Connect a Domain You Already Own”If you already own a domain from another registrar (like Namecheap, GoDaddy, Google Domains, etc.), you can connect it by pointing your nameservers to Landingsite.
This connects the domain to your website — it does not transfer domain registration to Landingsite. You will still renew and manage ownership of the domain through your registrar unless you separately transfer the registration.
This is the simplest option if you want Landingsite to manage both the website connection and the DNS zone for that domain.
Important: if someone gives you an EPP code or auth code, that code is for moving the domain registration between registrars. You do not need an EPP code just to reconnect the domain to a Landingsite website. In most cases, you only need to update the nameservers or DNS records.
If the domain is registered through Landingsite and you do want to move it to another registrar, you can get its transfer code yourself — see Domain Transfers.
Step-by-Step Setup
Section titled “Step-by-Step Setup”- Go to your website Settings and click Domain.
- Enter your domain name and start the connection process.
- At your domain registrar, update the nameservers to:
ns1.landingsite.ains2.landingsite.ains3.landingsite.ains4.landingsite.ai
- Wait for DNS propagation (this can take 24 to 48 hours).
- Once propagation is complete, your site will be live at your domain with an SSL certificate.
Important: Email Can Stop Working After a Nameserver Change
Section titled “Important: Email Can Stop Working After a Nameserver Change”If you use email on your domain (for example through Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or your registrar), changing nameservers can temporarily interrupt email delivery until the required DNS records are added again.
After your domain is connected, re-add any needed email records such as:
- MX records for mail delivery
- TXT records for verification or anti-spam
- CNAME records required by your email provider
If your domain uses Landingsite nameservers, you can add these records from your domain settings or ask the AI editor to add them for you.
If your domain is still using another DNS provider’s nameservers (such as Cloudflare), Landingsite cannot add those records for you. Add them in that provider’s DNS dashboard instead.
Alternative: Keep DNS Hosted Somewhere Else
Section titled “Alternative: Keep DNS Hosted Somewhere Else”If you want another provider such as Cloudflare, Strato, GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Microsoft 365-related DNS tools to stay in control of your DNS, you can keep your nameservers there and point only the website traffic to Landingsite.
Use these records at your DNS host:
- For a root domain like
yourdomain.com:- A record for
@→75.2.29.147 - A record for
@→166.117.246.71 - CNAME record for
www→proxy-ssl.getlandingsite.com
- A record for
- For a subdomain like
offers.yourdomain.com:- CNAME record for that subdomain →
proxy-ssl.getlandingsite.com - remove any conflicting A, AAAA, or extra CNAME records for that same hostname
- CNAME record for that subdomain →
Then, in Landingsite, connect the domain using the external DNS route. If the domain was previously connected through Landingsite nameservers, remove it and add it again using the external DNS option if the dashboard does not let you switch connection methods directly.
This setup is especially useful if you want to keep email, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or other custom DNS records managed outside Landingsite while the website itself still stays on Landingsite.
Important:
- if your website is already live with external DNS and your current nameservers are staying at your registrar or DNS host, you do not need to switch to Landingsite nameservers just because a registrar suggests it
- if you are using Landingsite nameservers, do not also add the external-DNS A/CNAME records at your registrar
- if you are using external DNS on a root domain, make sure all three website records exist together — both apex A records and the
wwwCNAME toproxy-ssl.getlandingsite.com— or SSL/domain verification can stay stuck - if you are using external DNS on a subdomain, use only the required CNAME for that hostname and remove conflicting AAAA or old host records
Finding Nameserver Settings at Your Registrar
Section titled “Finding Nameserver Settings at Your Registrar”The location of nameserver settings varies by registrar. Here are some common ones:
- Namecheap: Domain List > Manage > Nameservers > Custom DNS
- GoDaddy: My Products > Domain > DNS > Nameservers
- Google Domains: My Domains > DNS > Custom Name Servers
If you are unsure where to find this setting, check your registrar’s help documentation or contact their support.
After Connecting
Section titled “After Connecting”Once your domain is connected and DNS has propagated:
- Your website must be published for it to be visible at your domain.
- SSL certificates are provisioned automatically — no extra steps needed.
- Your domain will automatically redirect to the
https://www.version.
If you check the apex/root domain too early during setup, it may briefly return the site directly instead of redirecting yet. That usually clears up after the latest DNS and SSL changes finish propagating. Once the setup is fully healthy, the root domain should issue a permanent redirect to the www version and preserve the rest of the page path.
Changing Your Domain
Section titled “Changing Your Domain”Only one domain can be connected to a website at a time. To switch to a different domain:
- Go to Settings > Domain and disconnect the current domain.
- Add the new domain.
- Update nameservers at your registrar if the new domain is from an external registrar.
- If the domain was previously attached to another Landingsite website or account, disconnect it there first before trying to connect it to the new site.
Reconnecting a Domain Already in Your Account
Section titled “Reconnecting a Domain Already in Your Account”If a domain is active in your account but not currently attached to any website, Landingsite may show it under Available Domains with a Connect Domain button.
That usually means the domain itself is still active, but it has become detached from the website and needs to be linked again.
To reconnect it:
- Open the website you want to use.
- Go to Settings → Domain.
- Click Connect Domain next to the available domain.
- Publish the website again if it is not already live.
You do not need an EPP/auth code for this. EPP codes are only for registrar transfers, not for reconnecting a domain inside Landingsite.
Common Issues
Section titled “Common Issues”-
Typed the wrong domain? Click “Cancel Setup” on the incorrect domain and add the correct one.
-
Site not loading after connecting? Make sure you have published your website. See DNS Troubleshooting for more help.
-
Root domain is loading but not redirecting to
wwwyet? If the domain was just connected or DNS records were recently changed, wait for propagation to finish and test again in a normal browser tab or private window. On Landingsite, the root domain should automatically redirect to thehttps://www.version once the setup is fully active. -
Trying to move a domain from another website manager or old Landingsite site? You may need to disconnect it from the old Landingsite website first before you can attach it to the correct one.
-
Deleted the old website and now want the same domain on a new website? Deleting a website does not automatically attach the domain to the replacement site. Open the new website, go to Settings → Domain, reconnect the domain there, and publish again.
-
Seeing “This domain is already verified by another account”? Start by checking whether the domain is already attached to a different Landingsite login you own. This happens most often when:
- you signed into Landingsite with a different email address than the one that originally bought or connected the domain
- the domain is still attached to an older Landingsite website
- a previous setup was started for the wrong or misspelled domain and needs to be canceled first
Before contacting support:
- Try signing into any older Landingsite email/account you may have used before.
- Check whether the domain already appears there under Settings → Domain or in your domain list.
- If the domain is already using Landingsite nameservers and you only need to manage DNS records, you may just need access to the original account rather than a full reconnect.
If you still cannot access the domain, contact support. We may need to confirm ownership, cancel the incorrect setup, or manually release the domain from the old Landingsite account or website before it can be connected in the correct place.
