Start Selling
Sell physical products, digital downloads, services, or tips through your React website. Landingsite manages your storefront, products, and orders; buyers pay on Stripe Checkout through your connected merchant account.
These guides cover your customers buying from you. For your own Landingsite subscription, see Billing & Plans.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”Live selling requires a Pro website plan, access to merchant payments, and an active connected Stripe account. You can ask the AI to build your products and try the editor’s test checkout before connecting Stripe. Preview testing does not take payment.
These built-in commerce tools apply to React websites. If Payments is missing or selling is unavailable on your account, email support@landingsite.ai with your website URL.
Connect Stripe
Section titled “Connect Stripe”- Open your account Settings → Payments. This is account settings, not the website editor’s settings.
- Select Connect with Stripe, or follow the payment-setup prompt in the editor.
- Complete the information Stripe requests. Landingsite always creates a new Stripe account for your sales; you can’t attach an existing Stripe account. If Stripe lets you sign in with an existing login, that only reuses your saved business details. Customers, balance, and payment history from an old account don’t carry over.
- Return to Landingsite and select Check status. Follow any remaining setup or website-verification instructions shown there.
Your Landingsite account has one connected Stripe account, and sales from all your websites go to it. Each website still has its own products and orders. Payment acceptance and bank payouts can have different outstanding requirements: check the displayed status rather than assuming that returning from Stripe completed both.
Settings → Payments shows which Stripe account is connected (business name and account ID). Use Open Stripe Dashboard there for bank details, payouts, tax settings, reports, and disputes; it opens the connected account directly. Open the website editor’s Products and Orders views for the store itself.
Stripe Account Troubleshooting
Section titled “Stripe Account Troubleshooting”Why can’t I find my sales or balance in Stripe?
Section titled “Why can’t I find my sales or balance in Stripe?”You are probably looking at a different Stripe account. One Stripe login can access several accounts, and Stripe opens the one you used last. If Stripe shows a $0 balance or no payments while Landingsite shows paid orders, open Stripe from Settings → Payments → Open Stripe Dashboard, or switch accounts with the account name in the top-left corner of Stripe.
Money from a sale shows as pending in your Stripe balance before it can be paid out. Your Stripe Balance page shows when it becomes available and your payout schedule; first payouts often take longer.
Which Stripe account is connected to my website?
Section titled “Which Stripe account is connected to my website?”Check Settings → Payments for the business name and account ID. In Stripe, the account ID (it starts with acct_) appears in the browser’s address bar, so you can compare the two. Landingsite can’t see or change which email or login owns a Stripe account. To confirm which account a website uses, email support@landingsite.ai with your website URL.
Why do I have more than one Stripe account?
Section titled “Why do I have more than one Stripe account?”An interrupted or repeated connection attempt can leave extra accounts behind, for example when the browser loses its connection on the way back from Stripe. Antivirus web protection (such as Norton), VPNs, and browser extensions are common causes. A leftover account shows a Stripe banner saying “Your account has been removed from Landingsite.ai” and asking you to complete the transition. Don’t select Transition account. Leftover accounts receive no sales, so you can ignore them or ask Stripe support to close them.
Create Your First Product
Section titled “Create Your First Product”Tell the AI what you sell, the price and currency, and how buyers receive it. For example:
Add a ceramic mug for $24 USD. Collect a delivery address. Add a product page and an Add to Cart button. Shipping is $5 per order, and we ship only to the United States.
For a download, upload the file in chat and ask the AI to attach it to the product and add the purchase flow. For subscriptions, use the customer subscriptions guide.
Open Products in the editor to review the saved name, description, images, price, and options. Request changes in chat. A product record and the page that displays it are separate: ask the AI to add the product to your storefront as well as create it.
Check the Buyer Experience
Section titled “Check the Buyer Experience”In editor preview, check that buyers can choose options, change eligible quantities, add items to the cart, and open checkout. The platform’s test checkout simulates a purchase without charging a card. Test orders are labeled; they are not real sales or proof that Stripe payments and payouts work.
Before publishing:
- Confirm every price and currency, including any placeholder prices the AI used.
- For physical goods, check the address, allowed countries, and postage settings separately.
- For downloads, confirm that the correct file is attached.
- For subscriptions, check the recurring amount, interval, and customer Account page.
- Check the confirmation experience and mobile layout.
Publish the storefront when it is ready. Live buyers use Stripe Checkout; a purchase there can charge real money. Promo codes are entered on that hosted checkout page.
