Promo Codes
Create promo codes for products you sell through your Landingsite website. Buyers enter the code on Stripe Checkout after leaving your storefront. These discounts apply to your customers’ purchases, not your own Landingsite subscription.
New to selling? Follow Start Selling to set up your store first.
Your website needs a connected Stripe account and a payment currency before you can create codes. You can manage offers in Landingsite or ask the AI to manage them for you.
Create a Promo Code
Section titled “Create a Promo Code”- Open your website in the Landingsite editor.
- Open Products, then select Promo codes. If you are viewing a product’s details, return to the product list first.
- Select Create promo code.
- Enter a Code for buyers and a Name for the offer.
- Choose Percentage or Fixed amount and enter the discount.
- Add any minimum order amount, expiration, or redemption limit. Select the subscription duration if relevant.
- Select Create code, then check the saved details and status before sharing it.
Codes can contain letters, numbers, and dashes, up to 40 characters. Landingsite saves them in uppercase.
Example: 20% Off Orders of $100 or More
Section titled “Example: 20% Off Orders of $100 or More”For a store using USD, enter:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Code | SUMMER20 |
| Name | Summer |
| Discount type | Percentage |
| Discount | 20 |
| Minimum order amount | 100 |
Enter money amounts in the currency shown in the form: 100 means $100 in a USD store, not 100 cents. Leave expiration and maximum redemptions blank if you do not want those limits.
Available Rules
Section titled “Available Rules”| Rule | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Percentage discount | A percentage off the eligible purchase, up to 100%. |
| Fixed discount | A fixed amount in your store’s payment currency. Choose this or a percentage, not both. |
| Minimum order amount | The minimum purchase required to use the code. For subscriptions, this is checked on the initial payment only. |
| Expires at (local time) | The date and time after which the code cannot be newly redeemed. The form uses your browser’s local time. |
| Maximum redemptions | The total number of redemptions, not a limit per customer. |
| Subscription duration | First invoice only, every invoice, or a number of months from 1 to 36. One-time purchases receive one discount. |
First invoice only does not mean one customer can use the code only once. It controls how long the discount applies to a subscription.
Product-specific restrictions, first-time-customer eligibility, and once-per-customer limits are not available through Landingsite’s promo tools.
Ask the AI to Manage Promos
Section titled “Ask the AI to Manage Promos”You can use the editor chat to create, list, inspect, disable, or replace a promo. For example:
Create a promo named Summer with code SUMMER20 for 20% off orders of $100 USD or more. Apply it to the first subscription invoice only, with no expiration or redemption cap. Confirm the saved terms and whether customers can use it.
Show me my promo codes and how many times each has been redeemed.
Disable OLD10 for future redemptions.
Replace SUMMER20 with FALL15 for 15% off orders of $100 USD or more, first invoice only, with no expiration or redemption cap.
When specifying an expiration in chat, include the date, time, and time zone. The AI manages the offer through the payments service; it does not need to change product prices or add a coupon field to your website.
Where Codes Apply
Section titled “Where Codes Apply”Codes are eligible across the connected Stripe account. If more than one website uses that account, a code can apply on those other sites too. Creating it from one website does not restrict redemption to that website.
The promo list is narrower: it shows the offers managed through the current Landingsite website, with their current status and redemption count read from Stripe.
Codes Created Directly in Stripe
Section titled “Codes Created Directly in Stripe”Landingsite does not automatically import coupons or promotion codes created in the Stripe Dashboard. They will not appear in the promo UI, and the AI cannot discover or manage them through its promo tools.
Create a code through Landingsite’s UI or AI if you want to manage it here. For an existing Stripe-created code, manage it in Stripe. Creating a second offer with the same code in Landingsite is not an import process.
Review, Disable, or Replace a Code
Section titled “Review, Disable, or Replace a Code”Open a code to see its discount, minimum order, subscription duration, expiration, status, and redemption count. Use Refresh details for current information; use Load more when the list has another page.
- Disable stops future redemptions. It does not remove discounts already applied to existing subscriptions.
- Replace with new code changes the offer by creating a different code, then disabling the old one. You must use a different code and confirm the replacement’s full terms. Existing subscription discounts continue.
- Expired or exhausted codes are no longer available for new redemptions. Exhausted means the redemption limit has been reached.
Checkout and Order Amounts
Section titled “Checkout and Order Amounts”Buyers apply codes on Stripe’s hosted checkout page. Your storefront’s displayed product prices remain the regular prices; the discount is applied at checkout.
Order details and receipts show the finalized discounted amounts. A fully discounted product can have a zero line amount, while shipping or tax may still leave an amount to pay. The final order total is the amount charged.
If a Code Is Missing or Unavailable
Section titled “If a Code Is Missing or Unavailable”- Missing from the list: check that you opened the website that created it through Landingsite. Codes created directly in Stripe are not imported, even when that Stripe account is connected.
- Expired, exhausted, or inactive: review the code’s details before sharing it. A saved code is not necessarily available for redemption.
- Checkout code entry is not enabled: if the panel displays this message, you can prepare offers but buyers cannot enter them in new Landingsite checkouts yet. Email support@landingsite.ai; creating another code does not enable entry.
- Outcome not confirmed: the service could not confirm whether the change finished. Use Retry same request when offered, or ask the AI to check the same promo. Do not create a replacement just to work around an uncertain result. If it remains unconfirmed, email support@landingsite.ai with the promo or request ID shown in the response.
