Publishing Your Website

Edits you make in the Landingsite AI editor are saved automatically, but they are not visible to the public until you publish. Publishing pushes your latest changes live so visitors can see them at your domain.

There are two ways to publish your website:

  1. Click the Launch button at the top right of the editor.
  2. Click the blue “Yes, continue” button when the AI chat prompts you to publish.

Both methods do the same thing — they push your current version of the site live.

Important: seeing your change inside the editor, or seeing the AI say a change was made, does not by itself confirm that the public site has updated yet. The live site changes only after the publish step finishes for the exact website that is connected to your public domain.

Important: on a brand-new website, make sure you have at least one saved/committed version of the site before publishing. If Landingsite says there is no committed version to publish yet, make a small change in the editor, wait for it to save, then try Launch again.

Also on a brand-new website, a separate preview/live link may not work yet until you click Launch once for that specific site. Before that first publish, the editor itself is still your main preview.

Important: Landingsite does not pre-build every preview automatically in the background after each change. On larger websites, generating a fresh preview can take a bit the first time you trigger it. Once that build is created, later previews are often faster because they can reuse cached work.

  • Before publishing: Only you can see your website in the editor. Visitors who go to your domain will see either nothing or a “not published” message.
  • After publishing: Your website is live and accessible to anyone who visits your domain.

Important: the page you see inside the editor is a preview, not the live public website itself. If the editor preview looks right but your public domain still shows an older version, publish again.

If your account contains multiple copies of a website, only the copy that is connected to your paid domain and has been published is live on the internet. Newer draft copies on the Free plan can still appear in the editor even though they are not the website your visitors see.

If you use more than one Landingsite login, double-check that you are editing the same account and website that owns the live domain. A saved change in one account or duplicate site copy will not update a different live site automatically.

If you are not sure whether you are looking at the live site or only the editor preview:

  1. Open your public domain in a normal browser tab.
  2. Compare it with the version you see inside Landingsite.
  3. Refresh the public page once or twice, or check it in a private/incognito window if you suspect caching.
  4. If the public domain is older, open the correct website in Landingsite and click Launch or the blue Yes, continue button.
  5. If you have duplicate website copies in your account, make sure you are editing the one that is actually connected to your live domain.

If you are on the Agency plan, you can publish to a preview subdomain (like clientname.agncy.dev or clientname.agcy.dev) to share a preview with your client before going live on their final domain.

Important details:

  • You still need to click Launch once for each website to create its working preview URL.
  • If you only see Upgrade and Launch, open the website itself in the editor and use that publish step there. The blue Yes, continue button in the AI chat does the same thing.
  • The Agency preview page is white-labeled in the sense that it does not use a landingsite.ai URL, but it can still show a small preview notice until the site is launched on its own paid custom domain.
  • Each website has its own exact preview URL. Similar-looking agcy / agncy links are not interchangeable.
  • An existing preview URL slug cannot currently be renamed self-serve. If you reuse an old demo site for a new business, the preview link may keep the old slug even after the content changes.

After you make changes to an already-published site, you need to publish again for those changes to go live. Your previous version stays live until you push the update.

If a change eventually appears on the live site later than you expected, that usually means the edit was saved before the publish state fully caught up. The safest final check is always the public URL itself, not just the editor preview or a chat confirmation.

To publish to your own domain, you first need to connect the domain in your website settings. See Connecting a Domain for setup instructions. A paid plan (Basic or Pro) is required for custom domains.

Important: a Completed publish badge by itself does not mean a custom domain will go live from a Free website. The exact website attached to that domain still needs its own active Basic or Pro plan before visitors can see it on the custom domain.

Which Email Is Used for Upgrade or Publish Billing?

Section titled “Which Email Is Used for Upgrade or Publish Billing?”

The email shown during the upgrade or publish payment step comes from the Landingsite account that owns the website. It is not a separate per-website billing contact, and changing your form recipient email does not change it.

If you want a client’s email to appear on future billing and invoices for that website, transfer the website into the client’s own Landingsite account and have them complete the upgrade there.

  • If you cancel your subscription, it usually stays live until the end of the current billing period, then goes offline unless you renew again.
  • If the subscription is refunded, the website can go offline right away.
  • The website is not deleted. If you resubscribe and publish again, your site will be restored.
  • Domains are separate from website subscriptions. Your domain stays active even if your hosting is cancelled.

If you want to permanently delete a website from your account:

  1. Open that website in Landingsite.
  2. Go to Website Settings.
  3. Click Delete Website at the bottom.

Important: deleting a website is permanent. Landingsite support cannot restore it afterward.

If you do not see the website you expected to delete, you may be signed into a different Landingsite account or email address.

Landingsite does not currently offer a downloadable full-site backup or packaged website export for hosting somewhere else.

That also means there is no supported way to request a one-off exported HTML file of the website for hosting elsewhere.

That means there is no built-in way to download:

  • a complete HTML/CSS/JavaScript project
  • a portable backup bundle of the whole site
  • a one-click migration package for another platform

What you can still control separately:

  • your domain, which can be transferred to your own registrar account
  • your visible site content, which can be copied manually
  • any custom code you added in your site settings, which can also be copied manually
